Zinedine Zidane refused to confirm whether Gareth Bale will still be at Real Madrid next season after the player was jeered by his own supporters just three minutes into Saturday’s game at the Bernabeu.
Madrid want to move the one-time €100million man on at the end of the season and his representatives are due to meet with the club this week.
The club’s supporters seem more against him than ever and his first failure to control a pass was greeted with whistles.
He was jeered again when he pulled a shot wide and when he was taken off with 13 minutes left he was whistled again.
Asked if he thought Bale could still be at the club next season coach Zidane said:
‘We will see. Gareth is a Real Madrid player with two years left on his contract.’
Madrid won the game against Eibar with a Karim Benzema double.
Of the whistles for Bale, Zidane added:
‘The whistles don’t make us happy but the supporters come to see their team play well.
‘The supporters know that the season is over. The only thing we have to play for is to finish second.’
Left unanswered by Zidane is who would want Bale, and where would the Welsh star like to play next season? Two options that come to mind are Bayern Munich and Chelsea.
Bayern want to rebuild this summer and are searching for wide players, while Bale could be used to help facilitate the Eden Hazard transfer to Real this summer.
Where do you think Gareth Bale will be playing next season?
