Villa Moves To Barcelona

Spanish International striker David Villa is now a Barcelona player. The Blaugrana completed a 40 million Euro move for the 28 year old earlier today and according to the club’s official website, Villa will don the scarlet and blue Barca jersey for the next 4 years when he ¬†successfully completes a medical on Friday.

After consistently being linked to the Nou Camp, Villa’s move has materialised with just over 20 days left until the June 11th FIFA World Cup kick-off match between hosts South Africa and Mexico. Villa of course is a member of Vicente Del Bosque’s squad and it remains to be seen whether the lethal striker will stamp his authority on the world’s biggest stage.

So what does Villa’s move mean for the rest of the Barca players? Well, for starters, i would advise Ibrahimovic and Henry to start looking for new clubs as they are now deemed surplus to requirements. Ibrahimovic should have read Laporta’s tell tell signs when he initiated transfer talks with Valencia over the sale of Villa last week.

Henry on the other hand should have known that his days at the Nou Camp were numbered when he started to become a regular face on the Barcelona bench. With Fabregas looking ever more likely to re-sign for the Catalans, Barcelona will indeed be a force to reckon with in the new season.

Fabregas impending move to Barcelona might be the worst decision he makes. He is better of playing for Arsenal where he is assured of a regular starting position. Signing for Barca means fighting for a starting position with club star and icon Xavi Hernandez and it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out the headache Guardiola is in for.

Then there is Andreas Iniesta. As you know , Fab can play as a holding midfielder or an attacking forward. Again it remains to be seen just how Guardiola will gel this squad. Iniesta is the darling of the Nou Camp faithful and i don’t see him starting on the bench especially when fully fit.

Having successfully landed his man, Laporta can now launch negotiations Arsene Wenger over yet another Spaniard Cesc Fabregas.
