Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has been caught on camera wildly celebrating his team’s progression to the Europa League final.
The Argentine was banned from the touchline for the semi-final second leg against Arsenal on Thursday night but his players still managed to progress thanks to a 2-1 aggregate victory.
Simeone, who has now led Atletico to a fourth major European final during his tenure, was filmed by girlfriend Carla Pereyra waving a scarf around his head in front of delighted supporters.
The Atleti boss was serving a ban from the touchline on Thursday after being sent off during the first leg at the Emirates Stadium last week.
Having seen full-back Sime Vrsaljko given his marching orders after picking up two yellow cards in the early stages, Simeone was also dismissed shortly afterwards as he fumed over the perceived injustice.
Simeone’s long-term number two German Burgos was charged with leading the operation from the touchline and did so successfully.
Diego Costa scored the only goal of the second leg just before half-time to give Atletico a 2-1 aggregate win over their Premier League opponents.
The La Liga giants will now go on to face Marseille in the final in Lyon on May 16.
