Aleix Vidal has officially returned to Sevilla from Barcelona in a deal worth a reported €8.5m plus bonuses.
‘Barcelona and Sevilla have reached an agreement for the transfer of Aleix Vidal,’ read a Barcelona statement. ‘Sevilla will pay Barcelona 8.5m euros, plus 2m in variables.’
The Catalan joined Barca for €18m plus bonuses in the summer of 2015 but did not make his debut until the following January due to Barcelona’s transfer ban.
Vidal was never able to get a regular run of games in the first team due to the competition for midfield players.
Despite making just 49 appearances at the Camp Nou, Vidal did collect a healthy haul of major honors, winning eight trophies at Barca.
As a result, his CV now includes two La Liga titles, three Copas del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, a Club World Cup and a European Super Cup.
Vidal had already tasted Europa League success with Sevilla in the past so will be hoping for more of the same after returning to Andalusia.
