They’ve every reason to celebrate after securing a UEFA Super Cup triumph over Spanish rivals Sevilla – and Real Madrid certainly did so in style.
Clearly not satisfied with their celebrations on the pitch following their 3-2 extra-time victory on Tuesday, Sergio Ramos and Co opted to take it up a notch.
So when boss Zinedine Zidane was taking part in his post-match press conference, the players decided to gatecrash his interview in hilarious fashion. Among the players were captain Ramos, who had an eventful match, Marcelo and Alvaro Morata.
The Real stars mobbed their match-winning coach before spraying water all over their French boss following their win.
And Real Madrid coach Zidane lauded his side’s never-say-die attitude after seeing them claim a dramatic Super Cup win over Sevilla.
Madrid looked dead and buried as they trailed 2-1 deep into stoppage time in Trondheim, but Ramos’ equaliser sent the match to extra-time where Dani Carvajal’s brilliant 119th-minute goal won it for the European champions.
Zidane told a press conference:
‘In football you never know what’s going to happen. The good thing about tonight is that we knew it was going to be difficult, but we never gave up.
‘They got ahead in a key part of the game, but we never gave up and Sergio’s goal in the last minute brought us back to life.’
He added: ‘Second title (as Madrid coach), first of this season and I’m very happy with the effort the guys have made.’
