Real Madrid chances of signing Maicon not looking so great

It’s no secret that Jose Mourinho was hoping in signing Maicon from Inter Milan but the chances of that happening are not looking so great now after recent reports state that the president of the Serie A club is not interested in selling Maicon.

According to the ANSA news, Massimo Moratti stated that Maicon will be staying put with the club and went on to say the following :

” I consider Maicon so good that, perhaps, I can allow myself not to sell him.”

Although no one knows how much Real Madrid was planning on offering Inter Milan, it seemed to be  irrelevant as Moratti went on to say that the Brazilian right-back had been taken off the market, following a question about the offer. It seems that the Maicon is too valuable  to Inter Milan as he played a crucial role in helping Inter Milan win the Champions League, Italian Cup and the Serie A.

With Inter Milan having a dominant season last year under Jose Mourinho, they will look to continue the same path this season as they have not made any major changes in the club. Although Mario Balloteli was one player that was linked with a possible move away from the club, it looks like he will be staying put at Inter Milan as reports about the transfer have been slowly fading.

Think that Inter Milan can have a repeat season and win another treble under Benitez ? Upset to hear that Maicon won’t be making his way to Madrid ? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

I think this is great. Maicon is not needed, he just turned 29. A main attribute of an attacking full back is his pace, which at 29 will start to decrease. We have Ramos (& Albiol who can play right back, & Arbeloa)..Ramos is 24, and he, after the WC, is on par with Maicon. What we need is a LB and another CB would be nice but not crucial. Pepe and Albiol in the centre is fine, Garay as back up, so another CB would be nice, but not a 20m+ signing, I’d hate to think we spent a fair amount on Albiol just to relegate him to the bench… he is too good and promising for that.

I honestly believe the only signing RM need is a LB. Marcelo is good going forward but a liability in defence…
