Real Betis to be sold to arab buyers

It appears as though a formal takeover of Real Betis is on its way to becoming a reality. With ongoing speculation suggesting that a multi-million dollar takeover has been in the works for weeks with Sheikh Humaid, an official announcement was finally made last week.

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al-Nuaimi has given the green light to representatives to start the negotiation process, as reported by Goal.com. Should his proposal be successful, Sheikh Humaid will assume the majority share belonging to Manuel Ruiz de Lopera, Real Betis chairman.

The facts were confirmed in a statement issued by Israel Gutierrez de Alba and reiterated by Spanish Sports Daily. As a result, it was declared that Sheikh Humaid is “very interested” in purchasing the club and that his representatives are currently working on the deal. However, the future chief representative noted that it takes time to pursue such a venture, with a number of meetings yet to take place.

Passionate fans and the city of Seville were identified as key attraction for Sheikh Humaid, who would be prepared to finalise a takeover “tomorrow” if it were up to him, as indicated by Israel Gutierrez de Alba. Sheikh Humaid will likely be welcomed by Real Betis supporters with open arms, thanks to an estimated EUR 600 he could bring to the table.
