Luis Enrique put Barcelona’s stars through their paces in training on Tuesday ahead of an early-season top-of-the-table clash against Atletico Madrid at the Nou Camp.
Diego Simeone’s side journey to Barca on Wednesday for just the fifth game of the season, with both clubs already trailing Real Madrid, who have made a 100 per cent start.
With Barcelona second on nine points, and Atletico one point behind in fourth, neither can afford a slip up as Zinedine Zidane’s side host Villarreal the same night.
And Barcelona coach Enrique promised a ‘gripping’ match as he spoke in a press-conference on Tuesday.
‘We cannot afford to make too many mistakes. Atletico Madrid is a candidate for a lot of trophies.
‘It will be important to take our goal chances if we want to beat Atletico. It’s going to be a gripping encounter.
‘Neymar has his own style and we enjoy watching him here at Barca.
‘Sergio Busquets is an irreplaceable player. He’s an extension of the coach.
Luis Suarez admits he was surprised by Leganes’ approach at the weekend, as Barca roared to a 5-1 win over the Spanish minnows.
‘We’re human beings and our bodies need rest. I understand it and also the teammate who replaced me,’ he said after the game.
‘It suits me that the goals come from any of us three, while they are to help the team.
‘Another good thing is that we played a rounded game. They came out with a back four but surprised us with their man-to-man marking. It was vital to get the three points.
‘What we like the most is to have games and have rhythm. After the defeat to Alaves, we had to approach the game in the best way because our next game is against a direct rival in Atletico’
