The Suarez Show began with midfielder Denis getting his first league goal for the club, and striker Luis went on to score one and set-up another in the 4-0 win.
The victory was conclusive but marred by the injury to Busquets, which could rule him out of that meeting with Paris Saint-Germain at the end of next month.
Early diagnosis suggested ligament damage to his right ankle that if confirmed by a scan due to be carried out on Monday, will mean he misses between three weeks and one month of action.
Eibar dominated the opening exchanges with Adrian Gonzalez drawing a fine save from Marc Andre ter Stegen. But the good start was all for nothing when Denis Suarez put Barcelona ahead on 31 minutes. Luis Suarez crossed to Neymar and he touched the ball on to Leo Messi whose shot was blocked and bobbled out to Denis.
Not everything has gone well for the former Manchester City midfielder so far this season but he struck the loose ball perfectly drilling it low and true past Eibar keeper Joel Rodriguez.
He had only come on as a tenth minute substitute after Busquets was caught on the ankle by Gonzalo Escalante and had to be stretchered off. Ivan Rakitic had moved to defensive midfield and Denis had been given, and had taken, his chance.
Barcelona could have been out of sight by half-time after opening the scoring. Luis Suarez hit a post and both Neymar and Messi went close.
With Barcelona dominating after the restart, Messi added a second on 51 minutes. He released Luis Suarez and ran on to the Uruguayan’s return ball to finish first time past Rodriguez. It was no more than Messi deserved having taken the game by the scruff of the neck running midfield for Barça in the absence of the injured Andres Iniesta.
Suarez’ dinked 20-yard pass for Messi to score had been one of the highlights of the game and the former Liverpool forward soon had a goal of his own. He bundled Florian Lejeune off the ball and then squeezed a crisp shot inside Rodriguez’ near post. Barcelona had scored 50 goals this season in the league and 30 had come from the boots of Suarez and Messi. Neymar got goal number 51 and the fourth of the night to complete the rout.
With a sizeable contribution from Messi the two Suarez had been enough to beat Eibar. Unfortunately there is no second Busquets at Barça and they must now wait to see how long the Spain international is out of action for.
