Mourinho Desires One More Star Forward

Real Madrid super-manager Jose Mourinho recently admitted that his new Spanish roster has yet to be completed. The Special One stressed several times this summer that his side needed an all star caliber defensive back and striker. And despite signing several solid players that mostly will fulfill reserve roles including: Angel Di Maria, Mesut Ozil, Sami Khedira, Pedro Leon, Sergio Canales and Ricardo Carvalho; the side still looks to get even stronger this January when the transfer window reopens.

And with the defensive side of the pitch’s main targets already being denied, the main issue of concern for the former Inter coach is the forward position. Mourninho recently expressed his desire for another key man up top to play alongside Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain:

With another forward, if Benzema or Higuain get injured, I could look at the bench and see solutions. I can’t play both of them together because if one gets injured in the fifth minute, I don’t have a replacement.

And it is a respectable point made by the often controversial coach. Landing one more striker assures that the side has a valuable player that can spell one of the forward’s off of the bench. And Mourinho will likely look to Manchester City’s forgotten man Emmanuel Adebayor to fulfill that role. Plenty of players at the moment hope to earn first team honors for their league side, but this can easily change after a few months of limited action.

Mourinho’s Real Madrid might offer one forgotten man somewhere the opportunity to resurrect their career playing for a Champions League title worthy club. And that would be the opportunity of the lifetime for a player that is currently riding the pine for their respected league side.
