Luis Enrique: I wouldn’t want to face my Barca side

luis-enrique-barcaBarcelona manager Luis Enrique has said that the only team he doesn’t want to face in the Champions League is Barcelona.

On Wednesday evening Barcelona beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Camp Nou to secure their place in the last eight of the Champions League. It was a hugely impressive performance from the holders to win 5-1 on aggregate, and many are tipping them to win the competition again.

Should they do that they will become the first team to retain the Champions League in its current iteration, but other teams’ struggles in previous years show how difficult it is.

Asked about possible last-eight opponents, Enrique simply replied:

‘The only team I don’t want to face is Barca, and it’s a certainty that we won’t.’

It’s obviously a bit of a joke, but Enrique definitely has a point; they’re the form side right now, and since the turn of the year they’ve been absolutely sensational.

With their incredible front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar, they have the firepower to overwhelm most sides, while the key will be for those players to stay fit.

Aside from Barcelona, the likes of Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich will all be feeling that they have a chance, as will French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
