1) Lionel Messi

Last year’s MVP, Lionel Messi, is the best player in the world.  The captain of the treble winners is the joint leader in both goals scored and assists this season.  That not only makes him the highest point earner so far this year, but he also plays for the best club in La Liga.  Can you say Most Valuable Player?  They already are in Argentina and the World Cup hasn’t even started yet.

2) Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The giant Swede hasn’t forgotten his magic pair of Golden Boots and Ibs has been a goal scoring machine so far this season for his new powerhouse squad.  His coach has warned him about his hot temper recently, but when you score and win as much as Ibs does then it is hard to get that angry.

3) Kaka

Some people refer to him as do-do, but the truth is that Kaka is worth more to Real Madrid then nearly any other player.  and it is Kaka that often goes overlooked in the box score for his unselfish style of play.  But on a squad that has suffered many injuries it is this Kaka who has kept los galicticos afloat.

4) Cristiano Ronaldo

If it weren’t for an injured ankle Ronaldo would be higher up the list, but with injuries the star player’s first half was incomplete.  Still he has seven goals and Madrid in perfect position to steal the title, but awards are won on the pitch and not off of it.  Ronaldo may be the second best player in the world, but if he can not stay healthy it will not matter for Madrid.

5) Gonzalo Hiquain

Hiquain actually has performed better then Ronaldo recently scoring 10 goals in his last 11 appearances, but he went down last week and will miss at least a month of action.  It’s too bad because the Frenchman was just turning the corner and becoming an elite scorer, but even though he will miss some action Hiquain is still Madrid’s top scorer.
