Guardiola: Barcelona Now At The Mercy Of Madrid

Some good news for Madrid fans as arch rivals Barcelona slumped to a 3-2 loss Osasuna yesterday forcing Barca coach Pep Guardiola to admit that his side is now at the mercy of Madrid and only a slip up from the capital club would give his team a lifeline.

Madrid could go 10 points clear at the top of the table should they win at home to Levante today an opportunity i am sure Mourinho would not want to miss. Talking about Mourinho, has anyone else noticed how silent he has been recently?

The usual cockiness and sometimes shocking statements we all know him for have been scarce these past few days something that is very unusual and worrying at the same time.

It will be interesting to see how fans will respond to Real’s game tonight especially if they fail to pick up maximum points. Meanwhile, speaking after the match, Guardiola hinted at shifting his team’s focus to defending their Champions League title.

“Win the title? Well, we will try to defend our Champions League crown and then attempt to negotiate each match in La Liga, We will see what happens. But we are a significant distance behind which I guess will increase on Sunday. The league will be more difficult for us now. In the second half tonight we did well on this pitch but we should have done better in the first half. It was hard for us to get into this game but we have to congratulate Osasuna.”

There might be a huge points difference both clubs, however, nothing there is nothing to separate stars players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Both are on 24 and 23 league goals respectively.

So Madrid are on course to win their 32nd La Liga title, however, i get the feeling that won’t be enough to keep Mourinho at Madrid. It’s looking very certain that he will leave this summer, whether Madrid wins La Liga and the Champions League or not. The only question is what will be his next destination?
