Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has admitted he has “no idea” what Lionel Messi’s future holds. There were reports out of England at the weekend that Manchester City are preparing a staggering £200 milion deal for the Argentine ace.
City have been given a confidence boost in their pursuit of Messi due to a contract stand-off between club and player in Catalonia.
The Etihad club are prepared to pay over £100million to sign him and pay him more than £500,000 a week on a long-term deal.
When asked about City’s interest and whether Barcelona are expecting to receive a bid for the forward, Enrique said:
“I don’t know. I have no idea.”
Messi missed Barcelona’s match against Malaga at the weekend through illness but Enrique expects him to be fit for Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Celtic.
“I only saw him this morning,” Enrique said. “It wasn’t the best conditions to assess whether he is ready to play, but Leo is always ready to play.
“Lionel is always ready to play and I’m sure he will be ready to face Celtic. He is 100% and eager to give the best version of himself.”
