Barcelona Sign Chile Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo

Camp NouBarcelona have reached an agreement to sign Chile captain Claudio Bravo from Real Sociedad on a four-year deal.

Bravo will become the club’s second goalkeeping signing f the summer after Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach and pair will compete for the number one jersey at the Nou Camp following the departure of Victor Valdes.

In a statement Barca said:

FC Barcelona and Real Sociedad have reached an agreement for the transfer of goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

Claudio Bravo will sign a contract with FC Barcelona for the next four seasons.

The goalkeeper, who is currently contesting the World Cup in Brazil as team captain of Chile, will come to the Camp Nou along with the other new keeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen. At 1.85 metres tall, Claudio Bravo is noted for his calmness between the posts, his leadership skills, and lots of agility. Since 2008 he has been the captain of the Chilean national team, and at Real Sociedad he became one of the natural leaders of a team that in recent years have done really well in La Liga.

Bravo, who began his career at Colo-Colo, leaves Sociedad after eight years and more than 200 league appearances.

Chile will meet hosts Brazil in the last 16 of the World Cup on Saturday after finishing second in Group B behind the Netherlands.
