Barcelona are reportedly ready to listen to offers for forward Ousmane Dembele, just two years after making him the second most expensive player of all time.
France international Dembele moved to Catalonia from Borussia Dortmund in 2017 in a deal worth €105 million plus a reported €40 million in add-ons.
And, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, Barcelona would listen to offers if a club approached them and met their valuation of the player, which is €100m.
There have been concerns in Barcelona not only over Dembele’s inconsistent form and injuries, but also his behavior which, at times, has bordered on the unprofessional.
His lifestyle away from the pitch has tested Barcelona’s patience and this factor would contribute to his sale if the right offer materialized.
Though Ernesto Valverde does consider Dembele an important part of his team, the manager is reportedly on the brink of the sack.
Whoever comes in to replace him may not be as sympathetic to Dembele’s breaches of discipline and the way this evidently contributes to his injury issues.
Despite being in and out of the side, Dembele has scored 14 goals and contributed nine assists this season.
Dembele is still ontly 22-years-old and this seems like a panic move by Barcelona. To illustrate how bad Barca’s recruitment strategy has been, they basically took the Neymar money and bought Dembele and Coutinho, two players they are now desperate to get rid off.
