Barcelona Finally Land Philippe Coutinho

Once again Liverpool FC and Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have sold one of their stars to Barcelona as midfielder Philippe Coutinho has been sold to the La Liga leaders Barcelona for a reported €120m with another €40 in potential add-ons.

Coutinho is following in the footsteps of close friend Luis Suárez, who moved from Anfield to the Camp Nou in 2014.

That transfer makes the 25-year-old Coutinho, for the moment, the second-most expensive player in world football behind Neymar.

But when the Kylian Mbappe Monaco to PSG deal becomes effective at the end of the season, his €180m deal will push Coutinho down into third place.

Coutinho says he is living the dream now after completing his move to Barca. The 25-year-old Brazil international, who watched his new side’s 3-0 win over Levante on Sunday, will perform a ceremonial signing of his contract at 11.30 GMT on Monday before a photo shoot on the pitch and a news conference.

He told Barca TV: “I’m very happy, very happy. I have always said that it is a dream that I am living and I am very happy to be here.

“To be able to play, win titles, make the fans happy, always play with joy.

“It is incredible to know that I am going to live with idols, players with a lot of history.

“Footballers like Leo Messi, Luis Suarez, [Andres] Iniesta, [Gerard] Pique, [Sergio] Busquets..

“I am very happy to be able to live together, to be able to learn from them and be able to win together.”
