“I know a lot of things about Atletico, I’ve seen various matches and I like the team’s style of play,” Mandzukic was quoted as saying by AS this afternoon.
“The Coach is very good, there are good players here and I think I can do good things with this team.”
The Croatia international cost the La Liga champions somewhere in the region of €22m and he will be expected to replace the 34 goals that Diego Costa scored for Atleti last season. That is a big ask.
But Atleti has a history or seamlessly moving from one top striker to another. Consider that in the last 10 years there strike force has included Fernando Torres, Diego Forlan, Sergio Arguelo and Radamel Falcao.
