Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with his team after they maintained their incredible winning run with a 4-0 victory at Eibar. Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice, while James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema were also on target as Los Blancos maintained their two point lead ahead of Barcelona at the top of the Spanish Primera Division.
It was Real’s 14th consecutive win in all competitions and, although Ancelotti knows the run will eventually end, he is hoping it happens later rather than sooner.
“We know that day (when we will lose) will come,” he said in reports on Real Madrid’s official website. “Our aim is to continue our strong run. All the players are motivated and it is a very long season. We need to continue with the same attitude.
“The game was good from start to finish, we played with great concentration. I value the whole team’s work. Eibar played their game, they are team that fights and are well organised defensively. They were effective on the counter. But Real Madrid were great in every aspect of the game: defensively, in attack, with dead-ball situations.”
Although he did not find the net, Ancelotti was keen to praise the work of forward Isco, who shone in a slightly more deeper role, with Ronaldo, Benzema and Gareth Bale making up the front three.
“He (Isco) played a great game, positioning himself well defensively and displaying the same quality up front,” Ancelotti said. “He showed that he is perfectly capable of playing in that position.”
