Speaking ahead of this weekend’s trip to Getafe, Zidane looked at the positives surrounding the European clash.
“We have to keep doing what we’re doing, improving, doing the maximum to win games.”
“It’s a semi-final and will be a very difficult game.
“The only positive is that we play at home at first, but it will be a tough game.”
While Zidane is not giving up hope of a chase for the league title, he is under no illusions just how tough facing local rivals Getafe will be.
“At the moment we are third, one point from second.
“On Saturday we play Getafe, people think it will be easy but it won’t.
“I’m only thinking about Getafe and I want to prepare well so that there are no surprises.”
The coach said that he has spoken to fellow countryman Karim Benzema, who was told this week he would not be selected to play for France at this summer’s European Championships.
“I talked to Karim, they have taken the decision not to select him.
“I don’t want to talk about specifics, but the player is disappointed, he wanted to play.
“I will not comment on whether it is the right decision, but I’ll continue to support him and give him confidence.
Rivals Barcelona have been in a rut of late losing three of their last four games in all competitions, with the gap between the Blaugrana and Los Blancos in La Liga now just four points.
“I will not talk about what is going wrong for them, because I don’t like to have a team that is going wrong myself.
“I only focus on my team and I know we cannot let our guard down.”But I’m happy we’re doing good things in the final stretch of the season.”
