Sevilla Complete Loan Deal For Inter Milan Striker Stevan Jovetic

Sevilla have completed the loan signing of striker Stevan Jovetic from Inter, and have the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

The La Liga club announced the signing on Tuesday afternoon, tweeting out a picture of Jovetic holding a Sevilla shirt with the No 16 on the back.

And speaking at his unveiling the 27-year-old revealed that he spoke to his former Manchester City team-mate Samir Nasri, who is currently on loan at the Andalusian outfit, about joining Jorge Sampaoli’s side.

‘Samir Nasri told me that Sevilla was a good club,’ said Jovetic at his press conference.

‘I chose Sevilla because they play in the Champions League and they are fighting at the top of La Liga.’

The Montenegro international has been handed limited chances at the San Siro this season, making just five substitute appearances in Serie A, amassing just 67 minutes of first-team action.

Speaking to Montenegrin media earlier this month, Jovetic made clear his frustration at his situation at Inter by stating:

‘I wasn’t happy with how things went last year.

‘I worked hard, I was ready, but I was never given an opportunity. It’s not down to me because I was doing well, the games I played showed that.’

Jovetic joined Inter after a tough spell at Manchester City, where he struggled to assert himself in the Premier League during a three-year spell.

The 27-year-old managed just eight goals in 30 top-flight appearances in England, and, after a difficult time at Inter too, and Sevilla will be hoping their new addition can rediscover the form he displayed at Fiorentina that had made him one of Europe’s most exciting forwards.

Sevilla face Real Madrid in the second-leg of their Copa del Rey round of 16 clash on Thursday, where Jovetic could make his bow for La Liga’s second-place side.
