According to the French newspaper L’Equipe, PSG have signed Real Madrid forward Jesé Rodríguez for €25m transfer where he is expected to provide some competition for PSG’s Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani.
The 23-year-old Jese scored 5 goals last season where he was used a squad player by Zinedine Zidane, starting only 7 La Liga games but making 21 appearances as a substitute.
Originally Real Madrid want to include a buyback clause on the transfer, which was not something PSG were understandably interested in, especially after seeing how that worked out for Juventus and Alvaro Morata.
Zinedine Zidane kept the player out of Madrid’s team during the last friendly against Chelsea just to be safe, saying afterwards:
“Jese seems to be talking to another club, but no-one knows yet, that’s why he didn’t play,”
It has been a remarkably quiet summer in the transfer market thus far for Real Madrid, especially with a transfer ban looming.
Having won the Champions League in May, Real Madrid have made only one signing this summer – triggering Alvaro Morata’s €30m buy-back clause at Juventus.
Typically renowned for spending big, ‘Los Blancos’ have sold Denis Cheryshev, Álvaro Medrán, Omar Mascarell and now Jesé Rodríguez.
