La Liga Clubs In the Champions League

With Sevilla already out of the tournament before the groups were set that left only three Spanish clubs to compete for the honor of the world’s best. Let’s take a look at the teams chances of advancing:

Barcelona: Barcelona has yet to lose this qualifier, but with 2 draws they have settled for 11 of 15 potential points to be earned this tournament. Still they have comfortably advanced to the second round with a 4 point lead in their group and they have one of the best goal differentials of anyone in the league. Their 3 goals given up and 12 goals scored are among the best in both categories in the tournament. Always a favorite Barcelona is looking good heading into the knockout stages.

Real Madrid: Jose Mourinho hasn’t disappointed with the Champions League form and Los Blancos easily overcame the Group of Death with a comfortable margin of victory of 13 points in 5 matches. 4-1-0 heading into their final match of the qualifier, Los Blancos will have to hope that Higuain will be ready to go by the knockout stages if they want to win it all this year. Kaka’s arrival back to camp should help out though.

Valencia: Valencia is currently in second place in a competitive group with Manchester United and if they win the final game against the Red Devils they will also win the group. But a draw or a loss will not be too costly for the club either. Valencia has sealed a spot in the next round, but a win would seriously help their chances of advancing even further.
