Real Madrid look set to be without Karim Benzema on Wednesday against Manchester City Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to play.
Ronaldo managed to complete training with the full team on Monday, and at the same level as the rest of his teammates, meaning that the Portuguese star will line up for the game at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Meanwhile, it looks more and more unlikely that Benzema will feature in the semi-final. The French attacker trained alone on grass on Monday, which is an improvement over his recent gym work, but there is less and less time left until the match and his recovery is going slowly.
Without Benzema will Zidane go with Jese up-front or will he find a way to get winger Lucas Vazquez into the line-up? Vazquez did his chances of keeping his place in the side no harm setting up Gareth Bale’s winning goal.
‘I have every faith in him. I have faith in all my players,’ said Zidane who also praised Bale adding: ‘I’m pleased for him he deserves this because he has worked very hard.’
Asked if the only thing Bale was lacking in comparison with Ronaldo was that ability to play so many games a season Madrid manager Zidane said:
‘He can do everything that Ronaldo can do. When you see a player like Bale score a goal as important as this one then that bodes very well for Wednesday.
